Flashback to 1973: Abington Library debuts the Davenport Teen Center

The photo above shows the newly-launched Davenport Teen Center, located on the lower level of Abington Free Library, in 1973. It was published in The Philadelphia Evening Bulletin on October 16, 1973.

According to the photo’s caption, the Center “proved a popular place with township youth since its opening.” Featured are a record player, games, puzzles, a soft-drink machine, books and “Quiet, Please” signs.

The center was open seven days a week. No details about its lifespan were included.
