Fitman Performance & Physique Center to host the 2023 PA State Youth Football Combine

If you are a football player and have been wondering how you stack up against the top players in Pennsylvania, the time to find out where you stand is coming soon. On Saturday, July 22, the Fitman Performance & Physique Center in Roslyn will host the 2023 PA State Youth Football Combine.

NGA pro natural bodybuilder and USATF Masters Sprinter “Fitman” Eric Brown says it is extremely important for youth athletes to know where they stand as athletes.

“How many football players in the area actually know their official, electronically-timed 40-yard dash time?” the Roslyn native asked. “How many kids actually know how high they can jump? How can a kid get better or know how they stack up against their competition if they don’t have this valuable information?”

“I did not know my performance numbers as a young athlete during my time at Abington High School. When I got to East Stroudsburg University as a freshman, I got royally exposed as being weaker and slower than I thought I was. Having objective numbers would have made it easier for me to know where I stood among my peers on the track.”

“Athletes, and specifically football players need to know where they stand in terms of speed, strength, and overall athleticism,” Fitman said. “And on July 22nd, I’m inviting every youth athlete in the state of Pennsylvania to come to my gym and find out exactly who they currently are as an athlete.”

What Is A Football Combine?

A football combine typically consists of several athletic tests to evaluate the skills and abilities of football players. The biggest combine event in the world is the annual NFL Combine, which is held each year right before the NFL draft.

“Even though the metrics at the combine are not the end all be all for how good a player is, the numbers do have value,” Fitman said. “A player who has a great performance at the combine has a significantly better chance of being drafted than a player who has a lousy day at the combine. Preparation is the key to increasing the chances your performance is great.”

“At the Fitman Performance & Physique Center, we are all about getting young athletes to continue their athletic careers in college and in the pros. We have had more than a few high school athletes who went on to play at the NCAA level. For football players specifically, it’s important for them to showcase their ability at the combine.”

At the PA State Youth Football combine, athletes will be tested in the 40-yard dash (electronic), vertical jump, pro agility shuttle, broad jump, and the bench press. Fitman said he’ll be assisted at the combine by Coach Joseph Morrison of Apex Elite Training, LLC and Coach Warren Harvey, who is an Abington High School graduate and former Division 1 cornerback at Syracuse University.

“I’m surrounded by other great coaches at my gym who are real football guys. Coach Harvey played football at the Division 1 level for Syracuse and in the USFL in the 1980s. Joseph Morrison has immersed himself into the coaching aspect of football and really learning the game of football over the last 7 years. Any football player in the area, especially one who wants to play football past the high school level should absolutely be talking to us and getting advice on what it takes to make it to the next level.”

“This is a great opportunity for an athlete to get some real numbers,” he said. “Having these numbers, along with great game film will increase the chances that you can get recruited if your goal is to play college football. And trust me when I say, if you choose to go to college it’s better to have a scholarship that pays for school versus having to get student loans.”
