Excessive heat watch in effect starting tomorrow

We’re heading into a heatwave.

In case didn’t know already, it’s pretty hot outside and it’s going to get hotter. As a result, the National Weather Service has issued an “excessive heat watch” for our area starting Wednesday morning, lasting until Sunday evening.

Feel free to complain about the weather in the comments.

Here’s the details:

HEAT INDEX VALUES… Heat Index values will range from 100 to 105 on Wednesday and Thursday due to high temperatures in the low to mid 90s and dewpoints in the low to mid 70s. Heat Index values will then range from 105 to as high as 110 Friday through Sunday due to high temperatures will be in the upper 90s, and dewpoints in the mid 70s.

TIMING… The highest Heat Index values will occur during the day. However, given how hot and oppressive this airmass will be, there will not be much relief at night.

IMPACTS… The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure.

Instructions: An Excessive Heat Watch means that a prolonged period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a DANGEROUS SITUATION in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
