August is just around the corner. Don’t forget to RSVP to my seventh annual Senior Fair, which will be held this year from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 29 at Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel, 8339 Old York Rd., Elkins Park, 19027. Nearly 100 exhibitors—including representatives from federal, state, county and local agencies and organizations such as AARP, Transnet, PECO and the Aging and Adult Services and Veterans Affairs offices of Montgomery County as well as non-government exhibitors—will be there to offer information on health care, educational and volunteer opportunities, REAL ID, prescription-drug plans, identity theft, unclaimed property and much more. Seniors can also apply for SEPTA Key Senior Photo ID cards (with a state license or state non-driver’s photo ID), receive flu shots (with proof of insurance), get Montgomery County Veterans’ Photo ID Discount cards (with discharge papers—a DD214 or DD256) and dispose of unwanted or expired medications onsite.
