Christa Barfield of FarmerJawn Agriculture has made a school-owned farm in rural Pennsylvania her latest project. Beginning in 2023, she and FarmerJawn will take care of roughly half of the 123-acre parcel and train others to take care of the rest.
The land is owned by the Westtown School, a private prep academy just outside of West Chester. Barfield plans to operate an organic farm stand and link the rural setting with her Elkins Park operation.
FarmerJawn Agriculture is a community-supported agriculture (CSA) grower established in 2020 by Barfield. The organization is located at 6730 Germantown Avenue, Elkins Park, and follows regenerative farming practices that concentrate on soil health and increased access to organic food to marginalized communities.
