According to Elkins Park resident Jesse Gonzales, a large piece of ice “the size of a human head” fell from the sky this afternoon and landed on his property.
The resident said the ice damaged his rain gutter and made a 6″ hole in the yard.
“We moved here six months ago from California. We thought coming here would be the end natural disasters,” Jesse said. “This week has been quite the opposite. Apparently, it’s a thing and a destroyer of homes with no responsibility to anyone.”
Jesse believes the ice chunk came from an aircraft descending from above.
From his Facebook post:
Today at 12:15pm a gigantic piece of ICE fell to the earth on an 82° sunny day, smashed my rain gutter and made a 6 inch deep impact into the ground beside the house! Before it shattered it was the size of a human head! Until now I never considered it possible. 2 more inches and it would have gone through the roof! My dogs were less than 5 feet away.
