Elkins Park native, St. Basil Academy in Jenkintown grad passes away after cancer battle

Norine Marguerite (Eisler) Cross of Holland, a beloved wife and mother of three, passed away after a period of illness on Wednesday, October 4. She was 43. 

Born in Elkins Park, Cross attended primary and middle school at St. Martin of Tours School, high school at St. Basil Academy in Jenkintown, and received her bachelor’s degree with honors from Holy Family University.

She worked at Tony’s Place in Mayfair during her college years, where a coworker introduced her to her future husband. Stephen, loved ones said. They were married for 14 years and had three children together.

From Norine’s obituary:

Norine was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in October 2015. Every treatment, surgery, scan, etc. she completed was to try to live one day longer to be with her family and friends. She became a fierce advocate for metastatic breast cancer research and elevating the voices of those living with metastatic disease. She raised money annually for Metavivor and was proud to raise over $11,000 in the last year of her fundraising efforts. Norine’s courageous spirit and determination will forever be remembered by those who knew her.
