The Elkins Park Fire Company announced that firefighter Quran Frazier received the fourth annual Charles “Chubby” Obrecht Firefighter of the Year Award and Assistant Engineer Derek Wiley was awarded the President’s Award, both in 2023.

Quran has been involved in membership, recruitment, and technology for the company, and orchestrated a successful Open House in October 2023, the company said.

Frazier’s award was presented by Obrecht’s granddaughter and EPFC/Cheltenham Township Public Information Officer Lauren Walter during a monthly meeting. The recipient of the award is nominated by and voted for by the active members of the company.

Active President Ed McMahon presented Wiley his award for putting in hours of dedicated time to learn to drive and operate an apparatus, frequently driving on daytime calls, and stepping in wherever needed.

Wiley was appointed Assistant Engineer for 2024 for his efforts.
