On Sunday, January 18th in Cheltenham Township, a Honda carrying 5 people crashed into utility poles at Greenwood and Hedgerow Avenues in Cheltenham Township. All 5 people were taken to the hospital and one, Nicholas Bednarek, 20, of Abington, was killed. According to investigators, officers at the scene found open bottles of alcohol in the car.

The driver of the Honda, Alexander Koenigsberg, 18, of Huntingdon Valley has been charged with Homicide by Vehicle While DUI, Aggravated Assault and other offenses.

Koenigsberg’s blood alcohol level, which was tested during his hospital treatment for spinal injuries and a broken clavicle, was estimated to be between .136% and .165%.
