Dr. Raymond Singer, Cheltenham grad, named Philly Mag’s ‘Top Doc’ for 2023

Dr. Raymond Singer, a 1976 Cheltenham High School graduate, is Chief of Cardiac Surgery at Einstein Medical Center Montgomery. An esteemed cardiothoracic surgeon, he has performed nearly 7,000 heart and lung operations, saving and enhancing many lives in the process.

Dr. Singer spent 27 years with the Lehigh Valley Health Network before coming back to the Montgomery County area in 2019. He has been recognized as a “Top Doc” in Philadelphia Magazine for 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. Additional awards include the Arrnandi Goracci, MD Memorial Prize for Teaching, the DuPont Pharmaceutical Young Investigators Award, The Pennsylvania Association for Thoracic Surgery Award for Clinical Research, the American Heart Association Physician Award for Acute Care in Cardiovascular Surgery, and the Distinguished and Exceptional Attainments in Life Alumni Achievement Award at Muhlenberg College. 


His practice interests include complex valve, coronary and aneurysm surgery, as well as prevention and treatment of lung cancer. He enjoys teaching and writing and has published over 70 peer review scientific and news journal articles while in practice.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Muhlenberg College and his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School. He completed both his General Surgery and Cardiothoracic Residencies at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
