Dr. Andrew Newman, longtime Huntingdon Valley resident, US Army veteran, former Air Force Reserves physician in Willow Grove, PhD graduate of Arcadia, has passed away at 86

Dr. Andrew Newman, a longtime resident of Huntingdon Valley, graduate of Arcadia University (Glenside), US Army veteran, and former physician in the Air Force Reserves in Willow Grove, passed away peacefully in Huntingdon Valley on Tuesday, November 19. He was 86 years old.

Dr. Newman graduated from Central High School in Philadelphia in 1956 and went on to receive a BS from Temple University, an MD from Temple University School of Medicine and later a JD from Rutgers University. He received two PhD degrees from Arcadia University and Widener University and went on to serve as a professor of medical ethics at Widener Law School for many years, his obituary said.

From 1966 to 1968, Dr. Newman served in Japan with the US Army as a Captain/MD where he treated gravely injured soldiers flown in from Vietnam. He also served as a physician in the Air Force Reserves in Willow Grove.

“Dr. Newman was an orthopedic surgeon for many years and was widely known as an expert hand surgeon and hip surgeon. Once he received his law degree in 1986, he became well known as an expert witness in medical malpractice cases,” his obituary said.

A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, November 24 at 11:00am at Shalom Memorial Park, 3573 Pine Road in Huntingdon Valley.
