Demolition for four properties on the corner of Old York and Susquehanna Roads (1100, 1102, 1104, and 1106) will begin Monday, April 14.
Demolition was initially expected to begin in January, though a series of hiccups, most recently the discovery of a Verizon hub tethered to the buildings, have delayed progress.
The residents of the apartments are long gone, and the windows of two of the buildings have been boarded up and vacant for years. There was only one mobile business when the Township’s purchase took place.
The demolition phase is expected to take 10–14 days. During this time, the right southbound lane of Old York Road will be closed directly in front of the buildings being demolished. The intersection itself will remain open, and right turns from southbound Old York onto westbound Susquehanna will still be allowed from the remaining southbound lane of 611.
