A new Facebook page titled “Demand Change at Montgomery County SPCA” has popped up in tandem with the Philadelphia Inquirer’s recent expose.
The page’s description reads “With $67 million in assets, the MCSPCA needs to change their inhumane ways.” Recent posts call for the dismissal of April Hostler, the SPCA’s Board President, and outline a staff chart:

From another recent post regarding Carmen Ronio, the facility’s longtime executive director who retired on Tuesday:
The (former) MCSPCA Medical Director was very discriminatory towards select breeds (a mindset shared by all of management). He would deem most large breed dogs, like Rottweilers, German Shepherds, and Pitt bulls, to be aggressive without even assessing them outside of their kennels. Regardless of staff feedback, if a dog didn’t exhibit perfect kennel behavior in his opinion, he was convinced that they were aggressive and would recommend euthanasia. Staff at all three MCSPCA locations have witnessed him banging on kennels and waving his hand in front of animals’ faces in an attempt to get them to react. Imagine how many lives will be saved because he quit two days before the Philadelphia Inquirer article was published.
Other posts include photos and videos of the facilities’ interior:

After the Inquirer report, volunteers and animal welfare advocates launched a campaign calling for reform. A Change.org petition titled “Save the Animals, Change the Management!” is also circulating in response to the Inquirer’s articles.
The Facebook page has roughly 1,500 followers at the time of this writing.
