Crews extinguish Huntingdon Valley housefire reportedly caused by lightning

The Huntingdon Valley Fire Company announced that crews were dispatched at 9:00pm on Wednesday, July 17 for a report of a housefire caused by lightning on High Road near Red Lion Road.

Huntingdon Valley firefighters extinguished “significant fire” in the house’s basement and the roof.

The Bryn Athyn Fire Company provided mutual aid as crews “dealt with torrential rain and a very stubborn fire made more difficult by building construction,” Bryn Athyn officials said.

Officials said there were no injuries and that the Fire Marshal is investigating the incident.


Units on scene included Squad 8, Engine 8, Utility 8, Engine 9, Squad 9, Quint 10, Engine 11, Special Service 11, Quint 99, Squad 100, Ladder 100, Bucks Ladder 1, Bucks Ladder 2, Bucks Rescue 4, Medic 355, 8 Fire Police, Lower Moreland police, and Engine 200 for station cover.

“We thank all of our mutual aid companies, and Montgomery County Fire Radio for their assistance on this assignment,” HVFC said in a post. “Shout out to the great team at Wawa on Philmont Ave for filling our large food order at midnight for our station.
