Corundum Jewelry Gallery of Glenside to host grand opening on Oct. 23

Aimee Petkus Jewelry’s new storefront, Corundum Jewelry Gallery at 105B E. Glenside Avenue in Glenside, is hosting a grand opening on Friday, October 23, from 5:00 – 9:00pm.

The evening will include works from fellow artists Allison Alane, Zach Mellman-Carsey, Lara Ginzburg, Suzanne Henry, Nikki Nation, Shauna Blythe-Burke, Jen Surine, Cody Heller, Hershel Wiggins and gemstones cut by artisan lapidarist Maggie Klinedinst.

The space held a soft opening in April which coincided with the one-year anniversary celebration of its adjacent counterparts: TREXI Design and Lisa Kelley Studio.

Store owner Aimee Petkus said she’s been an independent jewelry artist for over 12 years.

“I make everything by hand. I have a background in geology, so all of my work is centered around stones and unique gemstones,” she told Glenside Local. “I want to give Glenside a wide selection of rings which you can’t find in a fine jewelry store.”

A resident of Mt. Airy, Petkus said she found the space after Ashley Myers, owner of TREXI Design, posted on Facebook that she was looking for someone to share the space.

“I went over there, met with her, and we clicked. It seemed like a good fit,” Petkus said.
