The Abington Township Police Department announced that on August 11, officers responded to Lee Lynn Lane in the Huntingdon Valley section for a distraction burglary.
According to police, the residents received a knock on the door by two male suspects claiming to work for Aqua. They wore wearing orange vests, face masks and had laminated identifications around their necks.
One of the suspects stated he needed to check their water due to an emergency. He entered the basement with the husband while the wife monitored the faucet in the kitchen.
The other male was last seen outside. The suspect in the basement was talking on a walkie talkie and stated he had to confer with his partner outside and never returned.
The couple eventually discovered jewelry and cash taken from a bedroom.
The Abington Township Police Department urges residents to be vigilant. Anyone with information is asked to contact Abington detectives at (267) 536-1100.
