CHS wrestling headed to districts/regionals, basketball in playback bracket, track headed to Indoor Championships

The Cheltenham High School wrestling team is heading to the 15-team District 1 AAA Section South tournament this weekend at Hatboro-Horsham.

The Panthers are seeking their first individual district championship since Max Galka in 1999. The top four in each weight class move onto next weekend’s regional tournament at Oxford Area High School.

The team crowned six champions at William Tennent’s 15-team Panther Invitational on Sunday, February 18.

Girls’ wrestling

Freshman Ashae Branch-Huston and seniors Ciara Rodriguez and Zakyiah Welton, members of the girls’ wrestling team, will be competing at regionals in Quakertown on Sunday.


Boys’ basketball

The CHS boys’ basketball team will take on Plymouth-Whitemarsh on Friday, February 23 in the playback round of district playoffs.

On Tuesday, February 20, the team lost to Coatesville High School by a score of 60-77.


Track

The CHS track and field teams will be participating in the PTFCA Indoor Track & Field Championships at Penn State University on Sunday, February 25.

Girls

  • Amirah Nesmith: 60M dash, 200M dash and 4X200M relay
  • Michelle Korsah (Pictured): 60M high hurdles and 4X200M relay
  • Kira Murray, Kendall Nelson, Adjoah Amoah (alternate) and Laura Tisoit (alternate): 4X200M relay

Boys

  • Joshua Herard (pictured): 60M high hurdles and long jump
  • Jordan Grady: 60M high hurdles
  • Nate Hoffman: High jump
  • Isaiah Keyes: Triple jump
  • Jordan Sowell: Triple jump
