CHS Esports takes 3rd at PIEA State Championships, 4 CHS students to perform at PMEA District 11 Orchestra Festival

The CHS Varsity Esports team tied for third place at the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Esports Association (PIEA) State Championship at St. Joseph’s University on Sunday, December 18.

The game, Valorant, a first-person tactical hero game from Riot Games, was streamed on Twitch and YouTube. Senior captains Gavin Frankenberg and Josh Nguyen, alongside senior Alex Bogush, who founded the team as a sophomore, were present at the competition.

The PIEA consisted of 45 high school teams from across Pennsylvania, including two Varsity squads from Cheltenham.

District 11 Orchestra Festival

Seniors Hannah Emtage (violin), Somto Amaefuna (violin), and freshmen Adora Abdul (viola) and William Edgar (cello) were accepted to perform at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 11 Orchestra Festival.

The audition had assigned solos, scales, and a sight reading excerpt, and included hundreds of instrumentalists from Montgomery and Bucks Counties.

The 2023 district festival will be held on January 25-27 at Perkiomen Valley High School.
