Cheltenham’s Dr. Wagner Marseille departing district to be superintendent for Wallingford-Swarthmore School District

As GlensideLocal.com reported last week, the Cheltenham School District’s superintendent, Dr. Wagner Marseille, announced his resignation effective on June 12th. The announcement did not offer an explanation for his departure.

We now can share that the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District has announced that Dr. Marseille will be its new superintendent starting July 1st.

“I am excited about leading this outstanding school district in this exceptional community. I look forward to engaging with the Wallingford-Swarthmore community and hearing experiences, hopes, and ideas that will shape our journey together in the years ahead.”

According to the announcement from the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District, Dr. Marseille was selected after a comprehensive search because the school board believed that Dr. Marseille’s strong skills, vision, energy, and wide breadth of experience are an excellent match for Wallingford-Swarthmore’s current goals and for the future success of the district.

School Board President David Grande stated, “Faculty, staff, parent, and community members voiced the need for a strong educational leader that can strengthen relationships across ‘the Wallingford-Swarthmore family’, carry forward the work of excellence and equity for all, and will not let the district rest on its laurels. I am confident that Dr. Marseille will be the collaborative and visionary leader who will take us to new heights.”

Dr. Marseille was the superintendent at the Cheltenham School District since 2015.
