At tonight’s Cheltenham Township Board of Commissioners meeting, the Board will be voting on the adoption of a resolution which would allow conditional approval for a subdivision on 222 Church Rd. This would split the one lot into ten lots and allow for the building of eight Single Family Dwellings for lots 1-8, family home and accessory structure to remain on Lot 9, and the final lot to be dedicated to Cheltenham Township.
Tonight’s vote is rife with controversy, as many in the adjoining Elkins Park neighborhood oppose the building of these homes, citing the inevitability of storm water runoff worsening the flooding of Tookany Creek during major storms.
The Philadelphia Inquirer recently did a story detailing the controversy and highlighting the major players. You can read the article here.
