Cheltenham Tree Donation Program commemorates loved ones who have passed away and others

Cheltenham Township launched tree donation program in 2021. The program allows residents to commemorate a loved one with a tree which helps reforest areas in Cheltenham that have lost trees in the past.

From the Cheltenham Township website:

The inaugural year of the program brought 24 new trees to Cheltenham parks, including Wall Park, Thomas Williams Park, Melrose Park, and several locations along the Tookany Creek Parkway, in addition to Curtis Arboretum. Tree varieties planted in 2021 include: Greenspire Linden, Scarlet Oak, Swamp White Oak, Pin Oak, Red Maple, Sugar Maple, Sweetgum, and Kousa Dogwood.

Donors don’t have to memorialize a passed on loved one to donate. Some people honor anniversaries, spouses and some just wanted to help plant trees.

April starts spring planting so if you would like to honor a loved one or a special event, email treedonation@cheltenham-township.org or visit www.cheltenhamtownship.org > I want to …> Donate a Tree.
