Cheltenham Township is hosting its first Monarch Festival on Saturday, September 14 from 11:00am – 1:00pm at Grove Park in Glenside to celebrate the park’s new pollinator garden, which will be planted by the end of the month.
This event will include:
- Celebrating new pollinator garden planted in Grove Park
- StoryWalk, Story time, and a craft with Glenside Library
- Seed giveaways and information from the Environmental Advisory Council
- Face painting and a scavenger hunt with Parks & Recreation
- A craft with local artist Rebecca Schultz
- Friends of Grove Park
- Tookany/Tacony-Frankford Watershed Partnership
- Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation
Families are invited to arrive at noon for a story hour with the Glenside Library, featuring the books “Gotta go! Gotta go!” by Sam Swope, “Look to the Skies” by Nicola Edwards, and “Milkweed for Monarchs” by Christine Van Zandt.
The event supports Cheltenham’s Mayor’s Monarch Pledge through the National Wildlife Federation. 2023 was the township’s third pledge year.
