As many of you might be relaxing at home tonight and during this weekend, do you want to help enhance your community?
If so, consider volunteer opportunities within Cheltenham Township.
“Cheltenham Township is looking for residents interested in joining its volunteer citizens committees,” according to the municipality. “Serving on a volunteer citizens committee is an excellent way to help shape the community in which you live. Our citizens committees tackle a wide variety of issues affecting the Township and its residents, providing recommendations and advice to Township staff and the Board of Commissioners.”
According to the Township, “service on these committees typically involves attendance at one meeting each month, generally on weeknights, and some involve attendance at events, activities or meetings outside the regularly-scheduled committee meeting dates. Committee terms vary from one to four years.”
Cheltenham Township is seeking individuals who are interested in serving as members of the following citizen groups:
Board of Appeals
Economic Development Task Force
Environmental Advisory Council
Historical Commission
La Mott Board of Historical and Architectural Review
Planning Commission
Shade Tree Advisory Commission
Substance Abuse and Mental Health Committee
Twinning Committee
Wyncote Board of Historical and Architectural Review
Two key requirements for all volunteers are that you be a registered voter (if you’re eligible to vote) and that you live in Cheltenham Township.
In addition, two of the civic groups have further requirements. For the La Mott Board of Historical and Architectural Review, you must be a resident of La Mott. For the Wyncote Board of Historical and Architectural Review, you must be a resident of Wyncote.
If you’re interested, Cheltenham Township asks that you send a letter of interest, along with your resume, to:
