Cheltenham Township moving towards amending the previously adopted single-use plastic bag ban to include restaurant takeout

During a March 1st meeting, the Cheltenham Township Public Works Committee voted to recommend that the township’s board of commissioners amend the single-use plastic bag ban that it adopted in late 2022 to remove an exemption allowing restaurants to continue to use the bags for takeout. The ordinance, as it currently exists, does not go into effect until January 2024.
