At the Board of Commissioners meeting on July 15, 2026, the Board presented a Resolution honoring Chief John P. Slavin upon his retirement from the Cheltenham Township Police Department after 37 years of dedicated service.
Commissioners each shared remarks about the legacy of service, integrity, and unwavering committment that mark Chief Slavin’s time in the CTPD and the positive impact his leadership has made in the department and the community throughout his tenure. The Township also gifted Chief Slavin a wooden flag bearing his badge along with a nameplate and retirement date, beautiful handcrafted by Township employee Ronn Donnelly, owner of Sierra Bella Rustics.
Next, the Board presented a Resolution honoring Kevin Feiner for 50 years of dedicated volunteer service to the Elkins Park Fire Company. Kevin has been a true leader in service to the company, answering countless calls for service during his 50 years and imparting knowledge on younger generations of firefighters through continued training nights.

The Board of Commissioners also appointed Jonathan Altshul as Township Manager and Board Secretary effective September 8, 2026, and Mr. Altshul gave opening remarks stating his excitement to work with the Cheltenham Township community.
