The Cheltenham Township Historical Commission recently published its September 2023 issue and its fall issue of The Wall Paper.
Among other updates and announcements, the issues highlight two upcoming events this fall: Camp William Penn Day on September 23 and the return of the Wall House’s Grand Open House on October 22. They also include “A Moment in History” featuring The Inquirer’s obituary for noted surgeon Dr. John B. Deaver, who died in his Wyncote home in 1931.
The Commission’s note about volunteering:
The Historical Commission is hiring! Or at least seeking volunteers. As a resident of Cheltenham Township, you can apply to be on citizen committees. If you would like to serve on the Historical Commission, you will attend monthly meetings, help curate the Wall House Museum, and will be trained to be a tour guide. The Historical Commission meetings are open to the public, so if you’re interested, come to a meeting and see what it is like.
In order to join the commission, you must be an active registered voter in Cheltenham Township and send a letter of qualifications and interest to the Township. For details, see the Citizens Committees page.
