Cheltenham Township appoints Alyson Elliot as Township Manager

The Cheltenham Township Board of Commissioners announced today the appointment of Alyson Elliott as its newest Township Manager. She was appointed Acting Township Manager after Robert Zienkowski resigned in October 2022, and will be officially sworn in during the Board of Commissioners meeting on April 26.

“The Board of Commissioners conducted a thorough search for the next Township Manager, and interviewed several qualified candidates,” said Board President Daniel B. Norris. “Alyson is a strong leader and problem-solver with a robust understanding of municipal governance who truly cares about the Cheltenham community. She has done a wonderful job maintaining the continuity of operations over the past six months, and we have faith in her ability to lead our team of staff through the next chapter in Cheltenham.”

Alyson brings more than 20 years of municipal experience to the position, with nearly eight of them spent as Assistant Township Manager. During her tenure with Cheltenham, Alyson has managed millions of dollars in grants and overseen a wide variety of projects ranging from planning to construction, including infrastructure projects, parks and facilities improvement projects, stormwater projects and the implementation of the stormwater fee. She also assisted and led staff through the pandemic and subsequent reduction in staffing levels.

Previously, Alyson served as Assistant Township Manager for Lower Pottsgrove Township and Management Assistant for Tredyffrin Township.

“I have learned so much about and from this community in my years as Assistant Manager, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to manage Cheltenham through many important transitions and
opportunities for growth in the coming years,” Alyson said.

“Knowing that Cheltenham has been through a lot of change in the past few years, the Board took the time necessary to evaluate the needs of the Township and determine the candidate most suited to take on the challenges of the role,” said President Norris. “This community expects and deserves the best leadership, and we are confident that this appointment will have a positive impact for years to come.”

When not hard at work for the Township, Alyson is a life-long equestrian, who also spends her time
with family, running and doing CrossFit, and serving as a founding member of the Friends of Curtis
Arboretum.
