Ryan Nase, a Cheltenham High School social studies teacher and former Panther football coach, has been named the head football coach at his alma mater Father Judge High School in Philadelphia.
Nase (above left), a 2002 graduate of Father Judge, previously served as the head coach of Cheltenham High from 2017 to 2021.
According to local historian Chuck Langerman, Coach Nase compiled a 27-16 record in his four-year stint. The team went 14-2 during the 2019 season, setting a school record for wins and consecutive wins with 12 victories in a row. That season, he guided the Panthers to the Class 5A state championship game in Hershey where the Panthers dropped a 19-15 heartbreaker to Archbishop Wood on a touchdown in the closing seconds.
History with Chuck: Littlepage’s 1,000th career point
On December 20, 1968, Craig Littlepage (above right) and Lorrie Slade combined for 36 points as Cheltenham High School defended its Suburban One League championship via a 71-44 victory over archrival Abington High School before a standing-room-only overflow crowd in the Panther gymnasium.
Littlepage, a 6-7 center, scored his 1,000th career point with a few minutes remaining in the game, becoming the first Cheltenham High player, boy or girl, to do so. Littlepage, a two-time All-Stater, finished his career with 1,440 points before matriculating at the University of Pennsylvania.
