Jordan Sowell, a senior member of Cheltenham High School’s track and field team, broke a 14-year-old Pennsylvania triple jump record on Sunday, January 14.
Sowell recorded a personal-best mark of 51 feet, 1 inch at the Kristian Marche Memorial Invitational at the Armory in NYC. Sowell, who used his last attempt to shatter Carlton Lavong’s 2010 state mark of 50-6.75, won the event by almost six feet.
His newest mark moves him to the top of the national rankings and comes on the heels of a previous record-setting performance at the Track and Field Coaches Association of Greater Philadelphia Meet No. 1 on Saturday, December 16 in Lehigh.
