Cheltenham School District board approves two-year teacher contract

The Cheltenham School District Board of School Directors voted Tuesday evening to approve a two-year contract with the Cheltenham Educators’ Association (CEA), the district’s teachers union. The contract runs through June 30, 2024.

The new contract includes additional salary levels to the salary schedule, with some levels increasing by 1.75%. Healthcare and retirement benefit rates are unchanged.

The contract additionally modifies teachers’ instructional, planning, and preparation period schedules, and the payment structure for those periods. Teachers will be required to enroll in a direct deposit program, which decreases district costs.

Teachers will also be allowed to take half sick days, instead of only full sick days.

The contract adds $3.19M to the district’s budget over the two-year period.
