Cheltenham recognized as a ‘Bird Town’, new signage and logo to appear along various streets

Cheltenham Township recently announced its recognition as an official Bird Town of Pennsylvania again this year. Residents can expect new signage with a new logo honoring the recommitment along various streets in the Township.

The Township’s Board of Commissioners passed Resolution 09-23 in April. The board was presented with a certificate of recognition at an August 16 meeting by Leigh Altadonna, President of the Wyncote Audubon Society and the Pennsylvania Audubon Council.

From the Township’s announcement:

Cheltenham is dedicated to furthering bird-friendly habitat initiatives as a part of its commitment to create a healthier, more sustainable environment for birds, wildlife, and citizens. The Bird Town Pennsylvania program provides tools for engagement and education, empowering residents, schools, and businesses to make more ecologically friendly decisions and promote a culture of conservation where everyone can be a steward of nature in their own backyard and beyond.  As a symbol of this recommitment, new signage will appear on Cheltenham’s streets.  A fresh and bold logo has been created for the program and will help identify this community as one that aims for greater conservation and stewardship of natural resources.

Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) Chair Greta Bunin also attended, and remarked on behalf of the EAC, “We’re proud and happy to be a Bird Town.  We know that what is good for birds is also good for us.
