Cheltenham police arrest man accused of stealing $1.5K in Red Bull from Target, tasered after ‘violently’ resisting arrest

The Cheltenham Township Police Department announced today the arrest of Zakee Laroda, who is accused of stealing $1,547 worth of Red Bull from the Target at 2450 Shoppers Lane in Wyncote on Monday, October 12.

According to the report, officers initially responded to the Target for a report of a retail theft in-progress.

Police said Laroda fled from officers on foot and then “violently resisted arrest, necessitating the use of a TASER to take him into custody.”

Laroda was charged with Felony Retail Theft, Receiving Stolen Property, and Resisting Arrest. His criminal history includes multiple previous cases of Retail Theft, Aggravated Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, and Possession With Intent to Deliver Narcotics, police said.

According to Philly Crime Update, the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office recommended $15,000 cash bail, citing Laroda’s criminal history and the circumstances of the arrest. However, Magisterial District Judge Suzan Leonard ordered unsecured bail, allowing Laroda to be released without an upfront payment.

A preliminary hearing date is pending.
