Cheltenham High School employee listed as a defendant in Protection From Abuse order, police say

The Cheltenham Police Department announced that it was asked today to serve a court-issued Protection From Abuse order (PFA) which listed an unnamed Cheltenham High School contract employee as the defendant.

As part of a preliminary investigation, officers discovered that the defendant also had a warrant for their arrest for a violent felony, stemming from the same incident that gave rise to the PFA, police said.

According to the notice, officers went to Cheltenham High School today and inquired about the defendant’s work status and were told that the defendant was not at the school.

“No further action was taken. Cheltenham School District was advised of all of the factors surrounding the incident, and took necessary steps to ensure that the Defendant would not have access to School District facilities going forward,” the notice said.

The PFA and arrest warrant were both issued by a Judge in the City of Philadelphia, police said.
