Cheltenham, Hatboro, Abington, Rockledge, Settlement Music School Willow Grove each receive state grants for various projects

Cheltenham Township announced today that it has been awarded grant funding through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development’s Local Share Account (LSA) for the following projects:

  • Curtis Arboretum Accessibility Improvements – $400,000
  • Glenside Pool – $350,000
  • Rowland Community Center – $400,000

Representative Ben Sanchez of Jenkintown announced today the following LSA grant awardees:

  • Rockledge Borough: $500,000 towards their Jarrett Playground Community Building
  • Abington Township: $1,000,000 towards the design and architecture work for a new Community Center

“Investing in places where neighbors come together is one of the most meaningful commitments we can make,” Sanchez said in a post. “Rockledge Borough’s Jarrett Playground Community Building and Abington Township’s new community center are more than construction projects, they strengthen local families, create safe spaces for recreation, expand opportunities for learning, and support the health and connection of the entire community. These projects are long-term investments in our shared future, and I was proud to support both Rockledge and Abington as they sought grant funding for these important efforts.”

In related news, Senator Maria Collett of Fort Washington announced today that Hatboro Borough has been awarded several LSA grants for the following projects:

  • $229,955 to purchase and install a water slide at Hatboro Memorial Pool. 
  • $333,932 to purchase a street sweeper to be used on the 22.5 miles of roadway within the borough. 
  • $379,990 to purchase two modular vehicle barrier systems with trailers.

Another $28,959 grant from the Montgomery County Redevelopment Authority was given to the Settlement Music School Willow Grove. 

The school, located at 318 Davisville Road, will use the funds for its Community Space & Learning Expansion. The 25,000 sf building opened in 2011 to replace the former Jenkintown facility.

The Local Share Account (LSA) Grant program runs through the Commonwealth Finance Authority and is open to projects that improve the quality of life of citizens in the community. Eligible projects must be owned and maintained by an eligible applicant or a nonprofit organization. These include Pennsylvania Counties, Municipalities, Municipal Authorities, Economic Development Agencies, Redevelopment Authorities, Land Banks, and Councils of Government.
