Cara Schneider Bongiorno, a 1985 Cheltenham High graduate (above right), and Howard Jaffe (CHS Class of ’84, above left) were recently featured by The Philadelphia Citizen for taking their childhood hero and rock icon Roger Daltrey (above middle) of the English rock group “The Who” on a historic tour of Philadelphia on June 7.
According to the story, Bongiorno introduced Jaffe to “The Who” on the bus to school in 1982. Howard became a mega fan and brought lead singers Daltrey and Pete Townshend’s Teenage Cancer Trust charity to the United States as “Teen Cancer America.”
In early June, when Daltrey came to the Keswick Theatre in Glenside to open his solo tour, he contacted Jaffe to see if he could have a historical tour of Philadelphia. Jaffe reached out to Bongiorno, now a veteran tourism marketer, to make it happen.
