Cheltenham High School alum Zachary Posnan, class of 1999, was recently named a 2023 Lindback Award for Distinguished Teachers recipient.

Posnan, a middle school science and math teacher at Russell Conwell Middle Magnet School in Kensington, was one of 60 Philadelphia School District teachers to receive the award.

Recipients receive a $3,500 cash award and are invited to a reception featuring congratulatory remarks and student performances from Girard Academic Music Program (GAMP).

Members of the community were able to nominate teachers from district schools, and the Lindback Foundation’s Selection Committee chose the 60 teachers based on their leadership and humanitarian contributions to their respective school communities. The award recognizes teachers who create positive, supportive learning environments, motivate students to learn and serve as role models to students.
