Jack “Silk” Clark, a 2018 Cheltenham High School graduate and starting Virginia Commonwealth University basketball forward, recently broke the Panther record for most points by a former boys’ player at a Division One basketball school.
Clark scored a team-high 17 points in leading Virginia Commonwealth University to a 76-59 Atlantic 10 Conference tournament quarterfinal victory over St. Bonaventure on Friday, bringing his career total to 1,320.
The previous record was 1,317 points, set by 2005 Cheltenham High graduate and former Rider University star Harris Mansell in 2009.

According to local historian Chuck Langerman, Mansell is the all-time leading boys’ basketball scorer in Panther history with 1,919 career points. Clark did not reach 1,000 points at Cheltenham High due to a knee injury his senior season.
Virginia Commonwealth will play in Saturday’s semifinals at 1:00pm on the CBS Sports Network.
In related news, Abington High graduate Eric Dixon, a forward for Villanova University, is within 16 points of setting the program’s all-time scoring record of would-be NBA player Kerry Kittles.
