Cheltenham football takes down William Tennent, next up Wissahickon

The Cheltenham High school football team scored early and often Friday night on their way to a 48-14 victory over William Tennent and their third consecutive conference victory.

Wide receiver Zaire Williams (pictured) paced the offense with three touchdown receptions, while Isaiah Brooks, David Macon, and Sean Alston led the stingy Panther defense.

According to local historian Chuck Langerman, CHS’ 48 points was the highest offensive output ever against William Tennent, eclipsing the old record of 45 set in 1995. Cheltenham and William Tennent started playing in 1967, and the series is now tied up with each school winning 14 games apiece.

Cheltenham, still alive for the conference title and a District One 6A berth, will travel to Wissahickon for Friday’s game.
