The Cheltenham High School football team fell 35-24 on Friday night to Wilson High School in their non-league season opener.
Junior quarterback Kendall Jackson, a 6’1″, 190-pound all-state candidate, completed 12 of 23 passes for 324 yards and four touchdowns. Last season, he became the first sophomore Panther quarterback to throw for over 1,000 yards (and then 2,000 yards) in a season in the 125-year history of the program.
According to local historian Chuck Langerman, Jackson’s four passing touchdowns tied the school record, and his 324 passing yards is fifth best in school history. Of the six 300-yard passing games in school history, Jackson and 1982 graduate Gregg Caplan (pictured above) own four of the six.

1. Ken Cropper; 2010; 400 yards
2. Kendall Jackson; 2024; 379 yards
3. Gregg Caplan; 1980; 351 yards
4. Gregg Caplan; 1980; 326 yards
