Abington grad, Cheltenham football coach opens Roll’n SK8 in Plymouth Meeting, feat by 6ABC

Darian “DJ” McFadden, a 2012 graduate of Abington Senior High School and an offensive coordinator for the Cheltenham High School football team, has opened his own skating rink in Plymouth Meeting, 6ABC reported on Tuesday.

The venue held a grand opening on Saturday, January 4. According Coach McFadden, Roll’n SK8 is expected to double as a rink and “a sanctuary for mental health”.

“It’s therapy man. I had a mental health scare four years ago,” McFadden, who says he pulled his hamstring during the combine for the NFL Draft, told 6ABC. “It got to a point where I was like, I don’t know what to do with my life. And I’m at this point where I don’t want to be here. I was standing on top of a bridge.”

According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, Coach McFadden went to middle school with head coach Troy Gore’s late son, Troy Rivera, who passed away in October 2024. He played football at Abington and continued his career at Bloomsburg University.

McFadden also serves as head coach of the Philly Phantomz and is the Founder/President of N.O.W. Youth Foundation.
