Cheltenham Community Development shares funding opportunity for small businesses

Cheltenham Community Development shared today a funding opportunity for small businesses in Cheltenham Township.

The deadline to participate is Friday, November 8.

From their announcement:

Cheltenham Community Development, a nonprofit community development organization, is in the process of applying for Commonwealth of Pennsylvania funds to support small business development in Cheltenham Township. The program, called Main Street Matters (https://dced.pa.gov/programs/main-street-matters/), offers funding for facade improvements and business improvements, with businesses required to provide a dollar-for-dollar match. Whether or not your business can meet the funding information deadline, or can afford the matching funds, please contact us so that we can learn about your needs and find funding opportunities in the future.

Facade improvement funds may be used for primary street-facing exterior building improvements such as storefront signs, exterior façade painting, design assistance, windows, etc., generally up to a total of $10,000. Businesses should provide as much detail as possible regarding proposed designs, materials, costs, and timing. Note that businesses leasing their spaces may require landlord permission, and all businesses must be prepared to provide a dollar-for-dollar match of grant funds. Façade funding may not be used on outbuildings located on a property, any interior work, or landscaping and general site improvements to sidewalks and paved areas

Business improvements funds come in the form of microgrants of up to $5,000 per business, or forgivable microloans of up to $25,000, and also require a dollar-for-dollar match. Microgrants may be used by established businesses for capital purchases; structural or interior improvements; hardware, software, and connectivity upgrades; and professional marketing and promotions activities. Microloans may be used by established or new small businesses for capital purchases; structural or interior improvements; hardware, software, and connectivity upgrades; professional marketing and promotions activities; and operating expenses. Microloans may also be used by businesses for employee salaries and benefits, operations costs including rent or mortgage assistance, utility bills, inventory, consumable supplies, or fees to secure other financing.
