Cheltenham business owner receives prestigious awards, will host 10th annual Celebrating YOU Women’s Conference & Expo on Dec 14

Carolyn Wilson, a Cheltenham business owner, acclaimed author, and sexual assault survivor, will host the 10th annual Celebrating YOU Women’s Conference & Expo on Saturday, December 14 from 10:00am to 6:00pm at the Pennsylvania Convention Center (1201 Arch Street, Philadelphia).

Wilson has been hosting annual conferences since 2014, and said she expects this year to be the most powerful version yet.

“I started in a library a decade ago, and to have it culminate in Philly’s Convention Center blows my mind. I’m on a quest to serve at least 100 women,” Wilson said. “I want to make sure that people leave with a sense of hope, and this is the time we need it the most. I want them to understand the power of their voice, and I want them to discover their divine purpose. I truly believe we all have something we’re here for. This conference is an assignment for me.”

I’m a survivor of many things, but I didn’t allow those to dictate my life. My story is not for me; it’s to give others hope,” she said.

The conference will feature speakers from the tri-state area as well as out-of-towners from places as far as Barbados and Jamaica. Les Brown, the keynote speaker and Wilson’s personal mentor, is a renowned international figure.

“We’ll be honoring some local people who’ve helped me get to this point and we’re going to celebrate together,” Wilson said.

Wilson operates Magnify Your Essence, an empowerment and sexual assault awareness organization based in Cheltenham Township. In April, she hosted a screening and panel discussion for her 30-minute documentary, “The Good Life”, at the Hiway Theater in Jenkintown.
