Cedarbrook Middle School’s eighth grader, Rowan Margerum has been named a 2018 Scholastic Arts and Writing National Medalist. Margerum brought home a silver medal for her novel “The Blood Red Rose“.
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards originated in 1923 and is the nation’s most prestigious recognition program for creative teenagers in grades seven through twelve. The Awards program recognizes the students’ vision, ingenuity, and talent and also provides students the opportunities for scholarships, publications and exhibitions of their works. More than 330,000 works of visual art and writing were submitted to the Scholastic Awards this year. Those that are recognized as National Medalists are invited and will be honored at the National Ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
