Calluna Plants and Gifts, a new plant nursery and gift shop, will host their grand opening on Saturday, May 13 from 10:00am to 6:00pm at 2012 Paper Mill Road in Oreland.
The day will feature food from Nice Rack BBQ, kombucha courtesy of Inspired Brews, live music, goodie bags, and DIY Terrarium Workshops throughout the event.
The store officially opened on April 15, and will be “soft launching” until the grand opening celebration.
“Everything in the store is nature-themed and plant-based,” store manager Jeannine Kienzle said. “Inside the shop is all tropical house plants, and we also have a gift shop which carries a lot of crafts and goods from local vendors. Our emphasis is on carrying local. We want to support local artists in the area.”

According to Jeannine, even Calluna’s non-local items are handmade by artists. Going forward, the store is considering hosting workshops in its office space and outside areas.
“We’re focusing on selling annuals. Annual selection will be outside in the plant nursery,” Jeannine said. “We also have local honeys, teas, things like that.”
The store’s name has a backstory: calluna vulgaris is the botanical word for Heather, which happens to be the first name of Calluna’s owner, Heather Suzanne Bishop. Heather is current in the fourth season of her garden design business, HSB Garden Designs.
“We were outgrowing our space,” Jeannine said. “We needed more storage, so when we found this space, we decided to open up a shop.”
