Business owner, Chief Scott, Mayor Lerman feat. in FOX29’s coverage of Jenkintown Police Department’s future

Trish Miller, owner of This Little Gallery and a resident of Jenkintown, was recently featured in FOX29’s coverage of the Jenkintown Police Department’s future.

“My first instinct is just no, but I respect, deeply respect people that serve our public office and value their time and commitment,” Miller said. “Having said that, I’m still hopeful that maybe that’s not going to happen.”

Police Chief Tom Scott and Mayor Gabriel Lerman voiced their concerns as well.

“This is not just going to impact the community it’s going to impact ten lives and their families,” Scott said. “We can’t take this lightly, because we have to be prepared for the future.”

“It would include dissolving, it would include contracting for services, it would include partially contracting for services, it would include state police possibly, it would include a lot of moving parts,” Lerman said.

On Thursday, February 8, Glenside Local covered the fiscal uncertainties looming over the Jenkintown Police Department’s future. On Tuesday, February 13, WHYY published a follow-up story which offered a few more details about the issue.
