Bernie’s Glenside potentially shuttered for good, Writ of Possession on front door

Glenside Local recently received a tip that Bernie’s Glenside is closed (again), potentially for good.

We visited the property on Monday, April 24 and found a “Your mailbox was full” note, dated April 22, and a Writ of Possession from the Court of Common Pleas, Montgomery County, taped inside the front door. The outdoor seating area was folded up and no one was inside or outside of the building.

The Writ of Possession, dated March 29, 2023, has a a “Duke Real Estate Partners LLC vs. Oreland Associates II LLC” header and begins: “To satisfy the judgment for possession in the above matter, you are directed to deliver possession of the following described property to: Duke Read Estate Partners LLC.”

The document continues in capital letters:

Bernie’s Restaurant, consisting of 4,000 square feet of space and adjoining 750 square feet of patio space, at Switchville Crossing, with a location at 391 High Avenue, Jenkintown, PA 19046.

To satisfy the costs against the defendant(s), you are to directed to levy upon property of the defendant(s) and sell his/her (or their) interest therein.

Costs:
Prothonotary: $180.75
Sheriff: $0

Their Facebook page was still advertising Happy Hours and Easter Brunch as of April 6. There was no answer when we attempted to call.

Bernie’s has the opportunity to appeal the judgment. Glenside Local hopes to have more information and updates soon. Stay tuned.
