Balancing Bodyworks: Jenkintown’s one-stop shop for holistic healing

Balancing Bodyworks in Jenkintown launched in 2019.

The space offers neuromuscular integration therapy, Marma points (essentially acupressure), hot stone massages, reflexology, sound healing, energy healing, aromatherapy, Thai massage, and a soon-to-come weight loss therapy program.

Owner and licensed practitioner Kathryn “Kat” Wolfe, LMT, a Huntingdon Valley native and Abington Senior High School graduate, has been treating clients since 2001.

“My ideal clients are those who believe in the work and are open and receptive to it. They understand the value of investing in their personal health and self-care,” Wolfe said. “I work on all body types, from firemen, EMTs, and athletes to pregnant moms, post-partum, babies, to elderly, cancer survivors, people injured in car accidents, to people who just want to keep their bodies in good condition. Massage is the best preventative medicine on the planet along with eating healthy and moving your body everyday.”

Wolfe was trained to help people with injuries using specific techniques that supported Chiropractic therapy before earning a degree in Integrative Body/Mind Therapies at the Center for Human Integration, which is run by the Medical Mission Sisters. She is licensed as a B.A.S.I.C. (Body And Spirit Integrated Consciously) Neuromuscular Integration Therapist, Massage Therapist, and Reflexologist.

She went on to teach for and coordinate a college degree program while apprenticing with an ayurvedic doctor for over a decade.

“The ayurvedic discipline is the oldest system of medicine on the planet,” Wolfe said. “It’s the roots that grew yoga, meditation, massage. I was exposed to all kinds of experts and healing modalities.”

“Massage is good for all body types and size’s however the more adipose tissue there is the more difficult it is to access underlying muscles,” Wolfe said. “So if you want to improve your handicap in golf, heal from whiplash, regain range of motion, relieve pain, improve posture, lose weight and sleep better, bodywork can help. The list of benefits is incredible. Ayurveda recommends that healthy people receive massage and bodywork once a week! We recommend at least a monthly maintenance plan.”

Balancing Body Works sells CBD oil, among other products, and is in the process of developing an online store with an in-office display.
