Bagels and Coffee Planned for Wyncote Substation

PECO Wyncote Substation

According to documents filed with Abington Township, Duke Real Estate Partners LLC would like to see a bagel shop in the decommissioned PECO Wyncote substation near Switchville Crossing.

In its application to the Planning Commission, the company states that it:

…recently acquired the former PECO Wyncote Sub-station building with 0.62 acres adjacent to Switchville Crossing. The proposal is to repurpose the building for restaurant use similar to a Manhattan Bagel style business. The building currently has no water or sewer service and contains 3,480 [square feet of] floor area.

This shows the back of the station. Duke is currently trying to get approval to expand the parking lot to accommodate the new business.

Duke completed its initial phase of the Switchville development in 2009 with the construction of LA Fitness. It since saw the addition of Bernie’s Restaurant in 2015 and is currently constructing a mixed use professional building on the property.

GlensideLocal applauds Duke for preserving this historic structure and its planned reuse.
