Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC of Willow Grove (Upper Moreland Township) announced today that it has acquired the Ohio-based Furlong Holding Company, otherwise known as Fitzwater Outdoor Maintenance.

According to a press release, Fitzwater Outdoor Maintenance was founded in 1946, provides vegetation management and commercial landscaping services, and has more than 170 employees. The company’s Corporate Vice President, Jay Adams, will continue to oversee day-to-day operations.

Fitzwater’s president is retiring.

“We are pleased to welcome the team at Fitzwater Outdoor Maintenance,” said CEO Matt Asplundh. “Its leading positions in the vegetation management and commercial landscaping markets and its reputation for safety and customer service make it a natural fit. We congratulate former owner and president David Furlong for his long and successful career in the industry and wish him a happy retirement.”

In September, Asplundh announced the sale of its headquarters at 708 Blair Mill Road in Willow Grove. In March, Asplundh acquired Bobcat Power, LLC, a Texas-based provider of electrical construction services.
