Cheltenham Township officials are reminding people that road construction may create problems for a number of people starting next week.

A statement from the Cheltenham Township Police Department:

“Hello neighbors, the closure next week of the Ashmead Road bridge over the Tookany Creek is going to cause quite a traffic mess in the Cheltenham Village area.  We highly suggest that if you can plan a traffic route avoiding that area for the next 9 months, it would be in your best interest.  If you live in the Village, please be patient, the work and detour are unavoidable.  We will do our best to keep an eye on issues as they come up.  Thanks, drive safe.”

According to Cheltenham Township, the Ashmead Road Bridge, near the intersection of Tookany Creek Parkway, will be closed starting at 9:00 AM on Monday, January 7, 2019.

The bridge is being replaced with a new structure.
